Current knit, Brambles Beret

Brambles Beret - Knitty.com

I was going to start last night, but first I had to learn how to do an Italian Tubular Cast On. (The pattern didn't call for any kind of tubular cast on, but I wanted a lovely finished edge very badly. I'm going to start using this tubular cast on for all shirt/sweater edges, hat edges, pants edges, socks, etc. I want my stuff to be as close to perfect as possible. I hate making mistakes.)

The designer recommends:

If you are using an acrylic or acrylic blend yarn consider repeating rows 14-29 of the chart to ensure that you get the slouch you desire, and maybe go up a needle size.
But I'm not desiring a lot of slouch. I want a legit beret shape to this. I love the legit beret shape. Slouch hats are cute too, but when I am in the mood for a beret, I'm in the mood for a beret.

Even in the online virtual dress-up games, I get regular berets for my dolls to wear. My Poupegirl has more berets than slouch hats. I've been getting berets for my IMVU avatar too. I'm wanting to get berets for my Pico and Pigg avatars as well. Pigg is a bit harder, though, as I'm still WAY in the beginning stage of learning Japanese. Bah... It'd be a lot easier if I could motivate my roommate to learn with me. He's one of those people who whines about how much he wishes he knew Japanese, but doesn't want to do any of the work to learn it.

We have to work to accomplish things. For some people, it isn't fun to put effort into learning new things, but that's all in how they approach work/learning. They need to approach it with enthusiasm, and they need to MAKE it fun.

Okay, that's all for now. It's shower time, then I get ready for visitor to arrive, but I shall not stop knitting/studying! I'm going to work on improving myself, because I never really know what tomorrow will bring.
